Novartis Campus Guide (EN)
First complete survey of the Novartis Campus
Innovative working environment in award-winning architectural surroundings
Over the course of twenty years, the biotechnological and pharmaceutical company Novartis has succeeded in transforming the industrial estate of its preceding companies into a modern and open campus. An urban grid based on a master plan by Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani emerged to the north of Basel, where successive open spaces as well as world-ranking buildings and artworks have found a place. Since autumn 2022, the campus has also been freely accessible to the public on work days and is visited by people from all over the world.
The Novartis Campus Guide is the first publication devoted to the company’s global headquarters. It serves both as a chronological review and a thematic guide. The buildings and outside spaces designed by star architects such as Tadao Ando, Frank O. Gehry, Alvar Size and others, as well as (works by??) renowned artists, including Jenny Holzer, Eduardo Chillida, Sigmar Polke and Olafur Eliasson, can be explored in the form of a round tour complete with current photographs, plans and illustrations. Exclusive insights show how encounter, collaboration and scholarly progress can be accomplished both inside and outside the innovative laboratory and office concepts.
With an introduction by Vittorio Magnago Lampugnani.
